Beaches of India

A spread of India's most-visited coastline — west coast, east coast, and island beaches. A geographic grouping for the nature/leisure traveller, not a fixed circuit.

A curated selection, not an official or closed list — either traditions vary on the full set of sites, or this is an editorial grouping rather than a traditional one.

Significance & tradition

This grouping spans three genuinely different coastlines — the Arabian Sea in the west, the Bay of Bengal in the east, and the more remote Andaman Islands. Goa's beaches carry a distinct Portuguese-colonial history, Kerala's a backwater-adjacent culture, and the Andamans a far less developed profile than either.

How this list was compiled

Not exhaustive — India's coastline runs over 7,500 km. This covers well-known beaches at destinations already represented here, a curatorial grouping rather than any traditional or official list.
