Significance & tradition
Jaipur's 1727 founding plan assigned each guild its own street — Johari Bazaar for gems and jewellery, Maniharon ka Rasta for lac bangles, Tripolia Bazaar for brass and metalwork, and Khajane Walon ka Rasta for marble carving — a rare case of a planned city's trade geography surviving largely intact, and part of what made the walled city a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2019.

Laid out under Sawai Jai Singh II's founding plan for Jaipur (1727), which zoned the walled city's streets by trade.
