Princely State Capitals
Former capitals of India's largest princely states, each with a palace complex that is now its city's own heritage centrepiece.
A curated selection, not an official or closed list — either traditions vary on the full set of sites, or this is an editorial grouping rather than a traditional one.
Significance & tradition
Gives this app's badly under-populated Forts & Palaces circuit a coherent historical framing, and three members are already loaded and curated.
History
Princely states retained internal self-rule under British paramountcy until 1947-49, and their capitals' palace-building traditions — Rajput, Wodeyar, Nizam — each produced a genuinely distinct architectural style.
How this list was compiled
